Mares Geldings Foals Breeding About Us

It all started with the rescue of a Standardbred stallion...

Weekend trips to Vermont nearly 20 years ago brought fate and the Veghtes together with horses. After rescuing a starving horse from a nearby farm, Robin and Robert became acquainted with Richard Kaufman of HavenHill Farm, a Morgan trainer who agreed to care for the horse. Before long, the young couple was accumulating horses and getting their feet wet showing in and around New England. In 1988, Richard secured a Reserve Grand National Championship in Road Hack with WhiskyHill Beaureve, a stallion they had purchased. The same year, Bill Parker presented Century Bold Spirit to World Reserve Champion Futurity Yearling Colt, forging a love for the Morgan Horse and competition that still thrives at Mendonhall today.

The purchase of such important Morgan Champions such as Particular Red and Merriehill Hooligan began to bring the Mendonhall name to the forefront in recent years. In 1999, after several successful seasons under the Salem Farm banner with trainer Peggy Alderman, Robin and Robert were faced with the news of Peggy's retirement from public training so she could spend more time with her young family. They looked to Rick Lane of Cabot for help in managing and planning the future of Mendonhall. This partnership has blossomed and is continuing to grow under Rick's direction and with Robin and Robert's vision and enthusiasm.

We have been enjoying our dream of the Mendonhall home on the 250-acre Killington, Vermont property. Barns are still in the planning stages. We look forward to the day when we can look out our window and see the fruits of our efforts playing in the pastures surrounding our home. Please visit our website often for updates on our progress!
